Child Advocacy Studies

Admission Criteria


Current UB students interested in the Child Advocacy Studies micro-credential, submit the Micro-Credential - Application Form.

Course Requirements


Students must also submit:


  • A program portfolio
  • An integrative reflection statement
  • Obtain written testimonial from program coordinator

Total Credits Required for Micro-Credential: 9


Academic Requirements


To earn a micro-credential, students must have a minimum of a B grade in all required courses.

Learning Outcomes


After completing the micro-credential in Child Advocacy Studies, students will be able to:

  • Utilize setting-appropriate observational evidence and critical thinking to recognize signs of child maltreatment and effectively file reports to proper authorities.
  • Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams to respond to child maltreatment, including investigation, family services, legal proceedings, and meeting children’s needs.
  • Recognize the intercultural factors that influence child well-being and maltreatment across the globe, and apply culturally competent responses to diverse families.
