SOC 206LEC - Social Problems What constitutes a social problem, and who defines what a social problem is? Why do some social problems receive so much attention, while others are ignored? What are the consequences of defining social problems in a particular way? This course examines these questions drawing on case studies of contemporary social issues, on a wide range of topics such as income inequality, harassment, racism, mass incarceration, and immigration.
