CHI 114DIS - First-Year Chinese for Heritage Learners This is an introductory course for heritage language learners who were raised in a Chinese-speaking environment and who can converse about personal information or daily topics but have little or no reading and writing skills in Mandarin Chinese. Building upon the students’ speaking abilities, this course aims to work on the development of reading and writing competencies in Mandarin Chinese while continuing to improve aural understanding and speaking competency. By the end of the course, students will be well-equipped to continue their study of Mandarin Chinese at the intermediate level. This course is NOT open to native speakers of Chinese.
