ENG 389LEC - Psychoanalysis and Culture This course introduces students to texts, concepts, and debates in the tradition of Freudian psychoanalysis. It will emphasize the application of psychoanalysis within non-clinical fields (literature, linguistics, law, history, politics, religion, sociology, anthropology, economics, mathematics). After establishing the basics of psychoanalytic theory and practice, our discussions will revolve primarily around the texts where Freud examines the origins of human society and, further, where he considers the role of literature in society.
