PSC 334LAB - Model European Union Lab The European Union is one of the most important intergovernmental organizations in world politics. The European Union (EU) is an unparalleled example of peaceful cooperation in economic, social and foreign policy. It is also an important global actor in its own right vis-a-vis relations with non-EU states. Students participating in this study-abroad experience will take part in a multi-cultural, international Model EU simulation with university students from a variety of different SUNY, US, and European universities. The SUNY Model EU is hosted at Vesalius University in Brussels. It provides students with exposure to real-world EU institutions (and often policy-makers) and a chance to simulate EU politics and policy creation over an intense 3-day simulation. Policy issues the simulation might address could include, for example, the Single Market and free movement, asylum & immigration, European defense Policy, European peacekeeping, EU enlargement, common agricultural policy etc. The study abroad experience also introduces students to European History, food and culture in Brussels and either Brugge or Ghent.
