SSC 235LEC - Introduction to Nonprofit Organizations This course is designed to introduce students to the nature of nonprofit organizations in the United States. It provides students with an understanding of what nonprofit organizations are, how they are structured, and how they differ from for-profit and government organizations in their form, operation, objectives, and outcomes. The course also examines the role that nonprofit organizations play within the broader economic and social ecosystem, and identifies some of the unique challenges and opportunities that nonprofit organizations face. Students will learn about a wide range of nonprofit organizations in the United States and how they aim to address a diverse set of issues in society.
