ARC 502LAB - Architecture Design Studio 2

Explores the increasingly complex relationship between inhabitation and the built form. Architecture is triggered by a building program; a client¿s brief; or, a business plan, and examines how current economic realities create increasingly short building lifespans. Investigates how various architectural types and typologies have limited function, leading to premature redundancy, and untimely demolition of buildings. Develops awareness arising from programmatic misalignments and design dilemmas. Considers newly defined relationships between humans and the built environment, including a reevaluation of time, place, and space in architecture. Includes lectures, discussion, and fieldwork. Second in a four-course design studio sequence; open to admitted M. Arch. 3.5 students only or permission of the academic department.
