ARC 504LAB - Architecture Design Studio 4

Topic is integrated architectural design. Synthesis of concept and construct, understanding design strategy, program, site, construction, and technology. Production of integrated design work will be informed by exploration of urban issues, history, culture, materiality, and craft. Design proposals will comprehensively address structural and environmental systems, life safety, accessibility, and material assemblies. Integrated engagement occurs through understanding aesthetic, technical, social, and environmental aspects of design, and considers matters ranging from the scale of the city to the tectonic detail. Includes lectures, discussion, and fieldwork. Fourth in a four-course design studio sequence; open to admitted M. Arch. 3.5 students only or permission of the academic department.
