This course provides foundational information related to theoretical and clinical practices of patients with dysphagia (i.e., swallowing disorders) across the lifespan (with a focus on adult populations with acquired dysphagia). The beginning of the course focuses on the anatomical, physiological, and neurological constituents of normal swallowing. This is followed by highlighting the pathophysiological mechanisms that result in the disorder. The following segments of the course focus on assessment methodologies and interventions aimed at assisting patients who have swallowing impairments.
