CEP 645LEC - Introduction to School Counseling

This course is designed to give a general overview and description of developmental counseling in the school setting. Upon completion of the course, students will have knowledge of: The roles and functions of school counselors, Interventions utilized by school counselors, Comprehensive school programs, Specific areas of concerns of students. Topics include: history of school counseling, roles of counselors in schools, training of school counselors, individual and group counseling in the schools, crisis intervention, creative arts with children, collaboration with other agencies, and professional and ethical issues.
