CIE 568LEC - Biological Treatment Processes & Resource Recovery

Theory and its application for design and operation of biological treatment processes used in water and wastewater treatment. Emphasis is on understanding traditional treatment technologies as well as the emergence of new sustainable technologies that are seeking to transform traditional treatment plants into water resource recovery facilities that are energy and resource positive. Topics include microbial metabolism and growth kinetics and the role that microorganisms play in various treatment processes, and theory/design of traditional emerging treatment processes such as microalgal systems.
