This is not an introduction to theory in the sense either of a basic survey of several theoretical approaches or of a neophyte’s way in to theoretical discourse. Rather, it introduces major problems of theory by focusing on seminal thinkers or topics that depend on the particular interests and expertise of the faculty who offer it. Because it is a course of variable content, it can also be repeatable for credit.
