DAC 506SEM - Dance Theory, Aesthetics and Criticism

This course investigates critical and aesthetic theory in relation to dance, with an emphasis on critical approaches to embodiment, including those from feminist, queer, performance, critical race, and cognitive studies. Special consideration is given to structures of storytelling and representation within dance, valuations of genre, dance philosophy, and historical change in understandings of movement and the body. Students from all areas of graduate study are welcome.
