The practice of doing ethnography informs much of contemporary films, media, games and social research. Ethnographic media is a dynamic changing field. This graduate seminar examines the work of ethnographers and media artists. No previous ethnography or technical media experience is required. Students learn how ethnographic media documents the visible and invisible practices of human cultures. The class screens award-winning films, reads critical texts, and practices doing ethnography. Students produce a final research paper or media project
