ECO 521LEC - Urban Economics This course seeks to develop an understanding of the economics processes and public policies which have shaped the development of metropolitan areas with emphasis on the United States. Topics include: theory of urban growth, trends in urbanization, location theory, the provision and financing of local government, and the external effects of production and consumption of the urban environment. Other topics include transportation problems, housing, and urban poverty. Credits: 3
