ECO 775SEM - International Economics 1 This course studies the theory and policy of international trade. It first surveys the theoretical and empirical aspects of the Ricardian, Heckscher-Ohlin, and specific-factor models of trade. Commercial policies such as tariffs, quotas, voluntary export restraints, and antidumping actions will then be covered. In addition, the topics on the gains from trade, trade policy under imperfect competition, and growth and trade will be examined. Finally, the topics concerning customs union, free trade areas, and international factor mobility will also be examined. Credits: 3
