END 546SEM - Real Estate, City and Environment Considers the urban landforms and natural resources where a city is developed and built (as well as open spaces, especially for health and recreation); physical infrastructures (including transportation systems and infrastructure); residential land use, neighborhood design, and affordable housing; urban mixed-use districts (encompassing office, retail, residential housing, and information or biotech hubs); and, economic development zones focused on employment (including business parks, mixed-use innovation districts, manufacturing areas, and warehousing). Examines features of urban form that make for better human experiences of place through urban design and real estate development. Identifies planning and development challenges, because most urban land is privately controlled and allocated through real estate. Reviews how urban planners, in part, have a regulative or facilitative role in affecting the community¿s physical resources for real estate development. Credits: 3
