NAH 522LEC - Issues Geriatric Manage

This on-line course provides the knowledge base for advance practice nurses to provide care for older adults. Students are introduced to the concept of successful aging that focuses on health promotion, maintenance of functional capacity and quality of life. Interdisciplinary collaboration is stressed in the multifaceted care of the older adult as it relates to the management of complications of disease progression as well as psychosocial, legal, and ethical problems that can arise. In addition to healthy aspects of aging, the course addresses the decline of health, which occurs in older adults, and how the decline influences life in the community, or results in institutional placement.
