NGC 576LAB - Advanced Health Assessment This course provides a clinical foundation for advanced practice nurses working with adults. It is designed to teach the skills that are necessary in order to begin the clinical course sequence in the adult health area of specialization. Building on undergraduate preparation, this course focuses on advanced principles of (1) interviewing, history taking, and diagnostic reasoning; and (2) diagnostic reasoning and physical assessment. It emphasizes techniques for discrimination and analysis of abnormal findings, and the process of clinical decision making. Classroom didactic, laboratory and clinical experiences are the teaching formats used in this course. While all Health Assessment Texts and DVDs cover the same material, it is the art of synthesizing and applying this information for evaluation and management of patient health that distinguishes Advanced Practice from basic Assessment courses.
