PSC 648SEM - Research in International Politics

The seminar is structured in several segments, starting with general issues in developing a research design in international relations: selecting a research question, establishing causality, developing concepts and their measures, and selecting cases and units of analysis for empirical research. The focus then moves to quantitative and qualitative research strategies broadly defined, and concludes with different methods in collecting data, including an overview of major data sources in the areas of international conflict and cooperation.
