URP 568SEM - Environmental Planning and Policy Environmental resources are managed by governments, organizations, communities, and other stakeholders through a broad range of policy and planning mechanisms. Environmental Planning and Policy provides an introduction to the regulatory structures of environmental public policy and the vision-oriented processes of environmental planning. Through case studies, assigned fieldwork, and analytic writing exercises, students explore ways in which these approaches are used to address key environmental problems such as climate change, habitat loss, hazardous waste, and urban sprawl. Develop and awareness of historic and contemporary environmental problems, and understanding of how these issues are addressed through planning tools and public policy. Analyze and critique ways in which planning and public policy tools are used for environmental sustainable development. Credits: 3
