EVS 452LLB - Limnology

Limnology is currently understood as “the study of inland waters - lakes (both freshwater and saline), reservoirs, rivers, streams, wetlands, and groundwater - as ecological systems interacting with their drainage basins and the atmosphere”. It is an interdisciplinary topic and students will learn about the physical, chemical and biological aspects of inland waters through lectures, a research project, and hands-on laboratory and field experiences. This course is offered to undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to the core work all students need to complete through the semester, graduate students are required to complete additional assignments demonstrating their ability to comprehend, critically analyze and present orally complex peer-review articles in limnology. Furthermore, graduate students must be able to explain complex limnological topics to the non-scientific community through concept cartoons.
