MGO 303LEC - Supply Chain Management This course deals with design and management of supply chains for competing effectively in global markets. The management of specific functions within supply chains such as manufacturing, procurement, distribution and inter-organizational information and coordination are dealt with. Some of the topics covered include qualitative and quantitative techniques for optimum configuration of supply chains, principles of postponement in design, mass customization, collaboration and coordination among various players in supply networks, global location factors for offices, plants and distribution centers, vendor managed inventory (VMI), purchasing and buyer-supplier relationships. The qualitative and quantitative techniques discussed will enable managers to minimize cost, reduce inventories, increase speed of delivery, and improve communication in today’s supply chains.
