CIE 421LEC - Civil Site and Municipal Engineering Design The purpose of this course is to educate you on the principles of civil engineering site and municipal design and their integration with the built environment, specifically infrastructure. Their will be a focus on site and municipal design topics and calculations, design objectives that are driven by real world conditions, guidelines and design methods. More specific topics include development and application of design concepts for comprehensive site plans; design via guidelines such as zoning and related municipal criterium; topography, drainage, storm water management, septic design, permitting, planning and zoning codes, parking, landscape, utilities, erosion and sediment control, master planning, and climate smart initiatives.
This course aims to provide you with a hands-on, real-world approach by applying the principles you have learned during lectures to develop solutions to actual design problems from projects designed by this instructor and other design professionals. You will also confidently produce a civil engineering design proposal that is a comprehensive summary of the class’s core objectives that will outline the process of Civil Site Design to be used as a guide during class and assignments.
