AAP 501SEM - Managing Arts in 21st Century This course looks at the art, science, practical, and theoretical dimensions of arts management historically and in the present day. The focus is on familiarizing students with skills and knowledge needed for carrying out the functions of leading and managing resources (personnel, finances, property) for effective arts management, and the underlying principles of managing arts and cultural organizations in contemporary society. In addition, students will be introduced to important social, political, legal, ethical, economic, and cultural forces affecting arts organizations in today?s world, and the role of the arts and arts management in civil society. Emphasis is on arts management practices in the non-profit arts sector in the United States. Credits: 3
