AAP 551LEC - Leadership & Finance in Arts

Good financial management ensures the stability, longevity, and sustainability of an arts organization. The focus of this course is on how basic financial principles and leadership skills contribute to sound decision making and management of arts enterprises, with special focus on nonprofits. Students will become familiar with the use of financial practices, day-to-day financial activities, financial documents, as well as the vocabulary needed for carrying out financial functions and for leading staff and board members towards responsible financial decision making in the arts nonprofit sector. The focus is on active learning modalities and applications coupled with important historical and theoretical contexts. Credits: 3
