AAP 590REC - Research Preparation

This seminar/tutorial guides students through the steps necessary to frame their final project or thesis and prepares them for the spring semester’s writing process. Core tasks are: formulating an abstract, and creating an outline and annotated bibliography. By the end of the semester students are expected to have determined their research question, outline, research methodologies, and bibliography in order to start writing up their project. This seminar/tutorial consists of two class meetings and a presentation of work progress of the entire group as well as of individual meetings of students with their respective advisors. Student presentations summarize ongoing research and are accompanied by critical feedback from the Arts Management program full-time faculty. In doing so, students learn to succinctly and clearly present an argument, learn to listen and respond to comments, and use this input to advance their project. This seminar/tutorial format is that of a workshop rather than of a class. Credits: 1
