HIS 578SEM - Disability History II: Special Topics in Disability History This course is explicitly not organized as a chronological survey, but rather thematically, and is designed to give advanced MA students a deeper, more nuanced understanding of disability history and of the lived experience of persons with disabilities. Its perspectives are international. It may include topics such as institutionalization (and de-institutionalization and re-institutionalization), disability and industrialization, disability and work (broadly defined), disability and family (broadly defined), disability and citizenship, disability and eugenics/bioethics, disability and war, disability and social movement history, disability and culture/media.
