LAW 507LEC - Property This course introduces many of the fundamental legal arrangements used to control and allocate valuable resources in the American legal system. It is designed to provide both a practical and a critical understanding of foundational institutions in modern society, and to serve as background for advanced courses and real-world practice problems dealing with land transactions and financing, environmental regulation, estate planning, intellectual property, corporations, wealth transfers, taxation, and land use planning. Modern institutions are presented in the context of the evolution of property law from the gradual break-up of the feudal system through the development of finance capitalism.
