LAW 509LEC - Torts

A basic introduction to the tort law system, covering such topics as causation in fact, negligence, proximate cause, emotional harm, comparative fault, assumption of risk, intentional harms, and strict liability. Attention will be given to the role of tort law in its broader social context and to proposals for “reform” of the tort law system. This course is for first year students only.
