LAW 511SEM - Bar Success: Essay Writing

Success on the NY Bar Exam depends heavily on strong performance on the Bar’s idiosyncratic essay questions, which differ in significant but identifiable ways from much of the writing students undertake in law school. This course will provide ample guidance, practice, and feedback to foster consistent and effective essay writing on the Bar Exam. Regular exercises and assessment will hone students? analytical and writing skills and will supplement those skills with valuable familiarity with MEE and MPT question formats and with graders? expectations; efficient issue-spotting and rule application techniques; potent time management strategies; and reliable methods for learning and remembering the vast range of subject matter from which bar exam essay questions may be drawn.
