LAW 520LEC - Persuasive Legal Writing This course will build on your 1L Legal Analysis, Writing and Research class and teach you how to become a strong and persuasive writer. It will introduce you to the types of filings you would make in a real case and teach you how to frame and develop arguments as a case normally progresses through the court system. You will receive detailed feedback on three different papers which build on each other, enabling your writing to become more detailed and thorough with each paper. Your final paper will result in a good writing sample for employment applications. You will also hear from guest lecturers who will bring to life the relevance of your writing and give concrete advise about what judges look for in legal filings. Finally, you will test
the strength of your legal arguments by engaging in oral arguments against your
opponent in the Fran Letro courtroom.
