LAW 579LEC - Advanced Torts This course examines doctrinal and theoretical torts issues not typically explored in the standard first-year tort course. Our goal is to further our understanding of tort law and its relationships with other public and private law areas. We will explore alternative a variety of theoretical perspectives, including rights-based theories, law and economics, and critical, feminist, and race legal theories. Topics explored might include public nuisance, constitutional torts, tort liability of public authorities, wrongful proceedings, economic torts, defamation, invasion of privacy, and human rights torts. Special attention will be devoted to subjects assessed by the Unified Bar Exam. Grades will be determined by class engagement and professionalism, case commentaries, and performance in a final exam.
