LAW 606LEC - Intro to Health Law

This course will introduce students to a variety of legal issues and areas of study related to the U.S. health-care industry. Major topics will include: the organization of health-care delivery in the United States; regulation of health-care providers and the markets in which they operate; the organization of health-care financing; regulation of the insurance industry in its role as a payer for health care; regulatory initiatives to control medical costs; the licensing regime for medical providers; the doctor-patient relationship; and the regulatory and tort liability regimes for health-care providers and institutions.
