LAW 623LEC - Property II

Property Two covers all of the legal issues that are essential to a good understanding of the subject matter but were not covered sufficiently in the first-year course. It is also a practical course that will involve drafting a commercial or residential contract, reviewing title searches, deeds and closings. We will visit the Erie County Clerk’s Office to look at property records and work closely with a lawyer who currently practices Real Estate law. For the reading part of the course, we will cover more deeply: real estate finance, mortgages, title and title searches, taxes, foreclosures, recording, zoning, eminent domain and other takings and nuisance law. The class is broken up into four sections of three weeks each with short, multiple choice quizzes at the end to see how you are progressing. There will also be some drafting and document work.
