Biomedical Sciences Overview
Biomedical Sciences enables students to increase the breadth of their undergraduate experience, combine courses from various departments within the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and focus their undergraduate experience in preparation for professional or graduate studies. This major requires that students take several core courses that are traditionally considered prerequisites for professional programs in medicine, dentistry, optometry and veterinary medicine. These courses are also generally required for admission to most graduate programs in various health science disciplines.
Academic Advising
The Jacobs School Undergraduate Education Office will be responsible for the support and advisement of all students. The purpose of advisement is to provide students with guidance in course sequencing and selection. In-person advisement is required in your first year at the University to develop an appropriate academic plan to facilitate timely graduation. Students are required to meet with their advisor in the first year of study and are encouraged to meet with their advisor at least once a semester. In addition to assisting students in completing their degree in a timely manner, advisors also connect students to campus resources that can aid in their academic success and meeting their post graduate or professional goals.
