French Education: Adolescence EdM

The EdM for teaching languages other than English (LOTE) in the United States, is designed for those who intend to teach foreign language education, particularly in public schools. Courses deal with current theories, and their implications for teaching methods, materials and assessment. The languages offered include certification in French, Latin and Spanish.

Major Area Content Elective (12 credits)


Select 12 credits from:

  • Graduate level, target language / culture course in French (FR), or a course from the Department of Linguistics (LIN) with advisor approval.

Culminating Experience: Portfolio, Project or Thesis (0-6 credits)


Total Initial/Professional Curriculum Credits: 48-57


3.0 Degree GPA required

 

III. Professional Curriculum


Major Area Elective (12 credits)


Select 12 credits from:

  • Graduate level, target language / culture course in French (FR), or a course from the Department of Linguistics (LIN) or the Graduate School of Education (GSE) with advisor approval.

Culminating Experience: Portfolio, Project or Thesis (0-6 credits)


Additional Requirements


Required for Conferral of Degree:

  • Proof of completion of Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) workshop
  • Proof of completion of NYSED Students with Disabilities Requirement
  • Proof of valid NYS Initial Teacher Certificate

Total Professional Curriculum Credits: 30-36
