Literacy Coaching Micro-Credential

Our literacy coaching micro-credential program provides academic coursework and a specialized practicum to prepare literacy professionals in education with the knowledge and skills to perform the role of an elementary or secondary literacy coach. Current UB students and non-UB students are eligible to apply.

Our program consists of four courses designed to support you as you:

  • develop and apply foundational knowledge of literacy, diversity and equity to design, implement and evaluate literacy curriculum and instruction.
  • develop knowledge of literacy assessment and evaluation.
  • demonstrate the ability to support classroom teachers through professional learning, leadership and coaching to meet the literacy needs of students and design learning environments.

Additional Requirements


Complete:

  • A reflection documenting the student’s understanding of the role of a literacy coach and their learning within the micro-credential program.
  • A reflection showcasing what they have learned and how they have met each of the 7 coaching standards. 
  • Provide a written summary of feedback to another teacher regarding their literacy teaching.

Total Credit Hours: 11
