Coaching Minor

Admission Criteria


  • Complete at least one semester at UB
  • Minimum overall GPA 2.000

Current UB students wishing to add or change their minor to Coaching, submit the Minor Application Form

Learning Outcomes


Students who successfully complete the minor will be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:

  • Prepare sport coaches to develop and enact an athlete-centered coaching philosophy.
  • Provide sport coaches with an understanding of ethical practices and codes of conduct affiliated with the sport context.
  • Develop coach competencies to include effective communication, collaboration, and education of and with all stakeholders associated with a sport program.
  • Assist sport coaches in developing and providing an emotionally and physically safe environment in which to practice and compete.
  • Educate sport coaches with current coaching and sport science knowledge and best practices to ensure quality preparation and development of athletes.
