Indigenous Studies Minor

Admission Criteria


Current UB students seeking admission to the Indigenous Studies minor should complete the College of Arts and Sciences Major/Minor Change Request Form.

Indigenous Studies Core (6-7 credits)


Choose a track option:

Four Indigenous Studies Electives (12 credits)


At least 12 credits of MOH, TUS or IDS at the 300/400 level. (See AAR for list of course options) 

Total Credits Required for Minor: 18-19

Total required credit hours for the minor are 18 (6 courses).

  • Students will develop a working knowledge of key concepts and methods within the field of Indigenous Studies
  • Students will better understand the complexity and diversity of Indigenous peoples and experiences in North American and global contexts
  • Students will build skills to become better researchers in the area of Indigenous Studies
  • Students will build competency to better engage and serve Indigenous communities in their future careers in multiple sectors
