The Department of Music maintains and nurtures a commitment to creative and performing artists. Our programs in performance, composition, historical musicology, music theory and music librarianship, attract students from across the globe, and our alumni have gone on to pursue thriving careers in North America, and abroad. Our department presents over 150 concerts each year, with performances ranging from student ensembles to visiting artists of international renown. Furthermore, Western New York has a rich tradition of cultural activity with active arts communities in jazz and improvised music, film, poetry and drama.

1) Students will deepen their comprehension of and interpretation skills in the performance of contemporary music and its various styles and idioms through weekly individual lessons. 2) Students will develop ensemble skills in contemporary music. These skills will include those necessary to function as a leader and collaborator in performing with ensembles. - In Person (100 percent of courses offered in person)
