Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
1) Candidates will demonstrate a thorough background knowledge in subject matter content, reflecting an understanding of theoretical and evidence-based foundations of processes and instruction.
2) Candidates will demonstrate knowledge of planning, guiding, and assessing learning in a variety of settings, using varied and responsive instructional approaches, practices, and materials, and an integrated, comprehensive, balanced curriculum to support student learning.
3) Candidates will demonstrate an ability to transform subject matter in ways that honor the content and the students at hand, using a variety of formal and informal assessment tools and assessment practices to plan, implement, and evaluate effective instruction.
4) Candidates will act upon knowledge in a caring and professional manner, creating and engaging students in practices that develop awareness, understanding, respect, and a valuing of differences in our society.
5) Candidates will work with all students in ways that are responsive to all types of diversity, and will ultimately demonstrate an understanding of and responsiveness to students’ group-linked and individual differences.
6) Candidates demonstrate the ability to update their knowledge and skills to ensure ongoing excellence in teaching, creating an environment that integrates foundational knowledge; instructional approaches, practices, and materials; and the appropriate use of assessments.
7) Candidates will learn to design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources–both in course delivery as well as students’ use of digital tools and resources.
