Literacy Specialist EdM

The Literacy Specialist EdM program, is for experienced classroom teachers who recognize a need to expand their knowledge of the methods, materials, and theories of reading, reading instruction, reading assessment and diagnosis, and re-mediation of reading difficulties. A major focus of the program is developmental reading, including study of developmental readers, reading processes, and reading instruction at the pre-school and emergent level, elementary grades, and secondary grades. Another significant focus of the program is the study of reading difficulties including classroom and clinical assessment, evaluation, and diagnosis of reading.

Culminating Experience: Portfolio (0 credits)

  • Proof of completion of Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) workshop
  • Proof of completion of NYSED Students with Disabilities Requirement
  • Proof of valid NYS Initial Teacher Certificate
