Pharmacology MS

Our Master’s Degree in Pharmacology is designed to provide an understanding of basic pharmacology, toxicology, drug discovery and translational science, along with an individualized program of original research. Our students are well prepared to continue in doctoral programs in pharmacology or other biomedical sciences, and strong competitors for academic and industry laboratory research positions.

Number of elective credits may vary depending on choice made to complete the culminating experience. Be sure to complete enough elective credit to reach 30 minimum total credit hours.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)


1) Students will demonstrate an understanding of basic biomedical knowledge with an emphasis on the fundamental principles and concepts in pharmacology and toxicology.

2) Students will incorporate and integrate in-depth knowledge within a specialized field of study within pharmacology and toxicology.

3) Students will develop analytical skills to critique and apply scientific information, and to develop hypothesis-based studies.

4) Students will conduct, interpret, critically evaluate, as well as analyze and interpret research results using modern laboratory protocols.

5) Students will develop the necessary bench skills to conduct experiments appropriate for their research area.

6) Students will exhibit skill in oral and written scientific communication.
