The Electrical Engineering MS program at UB consists of a foundational academic core supplemented by a comprehensive selection of advanced courses, culminating in a thesis or an equivalent culminating experience. Students have the opportunity to specialize in various areas, including:
- Signals, communication and networking.
- Optics and photonics.
- Solid state electronics.
- Energy systems.

Required Core (24 credits)
Select a minimum of 8 from:
- All graduate level Electrical Engineering (EE) courses.
- Excluding EE 599 , EE 699 , Supervised Teaching, Supervised Research, or Departmental Seminar courses.
- Limit of 6 credits of Informal Coursework.
Electives & Culminating Experience (6 credits)
Electives (0-6 credits)
Number of elective credits may vary depending on choice made to complete the culminating experience. Be sure to complete enough elective credit to reach 30 minimum total credit hours.
Select courses from:
- All graduate level Electrical Engineering (EE) courses.
- Limit of 6 credits outside of the Electrical Engineering (EE) department.
Culminating Experience: Thesis or Portfolio (0-6 credits)
Total Credit Hours: 30
