Film and media studies offers advanced research and professional training, for those interested in a multi-media/film related master’s level program. Students enjoy a wide selection of cross-disciplinary film and media courses, and work with scholars currently teaching in various departments and academic centers throughout the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Our curriculum is designed for graduates of film, media, gender, or cultural studies undergraduate programs, and for those with strong educational backgrounds in the liberal arts.

Film and Media Study Core (12 credits)

Secondary Focus (12 credits)
Select 12 credits in an additional “focus” area outside of Media Studies (DMS):

- Global Gender Studies (GGS)

- Visual Studies (VS).
Electives & Culminating Experience (12 credits)
Electives (6 credits)
- Choose 6 credits of any graduate level work from the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS), excluding Tutorial / Project / Thesis courses.
Culminating Experience: Project (6 credits)
- Must have two major advisors (one from DMS one from non-DMS department).
Total Credit Hours: 36
