Programs in mathematics education offer opportunities to study how students learn mathematics through instruction, focused on problem solving, understanding, reasoning and mathematical communication. In addition, students in programs in early childhood or childhood education, may choose to concentrate studies in mathematics. Certification titles include: Initial Certification (Certificate of Advanced Study; grades seven through 12), Initial/Professional (Initial Certification combined with a master’s degree; grades five through 12), and Professional (master’s degree; grades seven through 12 or grades five through 12).

- LAI XXX: Teaching and Learning of Geometry
Clinical Experiences (12 credits)
Culminating Experience: Portfolio, Project or Thesis (0-6 credits)
Total Initial/Professional Curriculum Credits: 48-51
3.0 Degree GPA required. Required to complete the program within 5 years.
III. Professional Curriculum

Culminating Experience: Portfolio or Project (0-6 credits)
Additional Requirements
Required for Conferral of Degree:
- Proof of completion of Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) workshop
- Proof of completion of NYSED Students with Disabilities Requirement
- Proof of valid NYS Initial Teacher Certificate
Total Professional Curriculum Credits: 30-36
3.0 Degree GPA required. Required to complete the program within 5 years.
