Undergraduate Course Requirements
Biomedical Sciences BS Core (76-77 credits)
Breadth Courses (6 credits minimum)
Students in the BS/PharmD combined program will satisfy one breadth course through PHC 501. Electives (9 undergraduate credits)
Students in the BS/PharmD combined program will satisfy their 9 elective credits with PHM 500, PHM 517, and PHM 518 from the PharmD Professional Curriculum. Notes
*These classes satisfy the prerequisites for the Pharmacy PharmD program. Each Pharmacy PharmD prerequisite course must be successfully completed with a grade of H or S on the PharmD H/S/U grading scale. Any student who was admitted into UB before the fall 2020 semester will need to follow the acceptance criteria and program requirements that can be found in the 2019-2020 undergraduate catalog. Total Credits Required for Undergraduate Major: 79-80

Total Credit Hours Required represents the minimum credits needed to complete this program, and may vary based on a number of circumstances. This should not be used for financial aid purposes. Academic Requirements
- Earn minimum grade point averages
- Overall GPA 3.000
- Minimum GPA of 3.000 in the Biomedical Sciences BS Major courses
- Each Pharmacy PharmD prerequisite course must be successfully completed with a grade grater than or equal to a C (2.000).
- Submit an application through the Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS) during the fall of the junior year, no later than October 1.
- Upon invitation, complete a formal interview.
- Selection is based on scholastic achievement, aptitude, personal qualifications, and evidence of motivation toward pharmacy. In addition to intellectual and academic competence, the Admissions Committee considers communication skills, leadership ability, community service, health care-related or research experience, and motivation for pursuing a career in pharmacy.
First years must declare the Biomedical Sciences BS/PharmD major by December 31 of their first semester. All other candidates for Pharmacy admission are considered through the competitive PharmCAS application process. Curricular Plan

Upon successful completion of all requirements, the student will have knowledge to: - Demonstration mastery of basic knowledge in mathematics and natural sciences
- Students will apply coursework in the biomedical sciences to integrate a working knowledge of the human body.
- Demonstrate preparation for graduate (Master’s, Ph.D.) and professional programs (medical, dental, optometry, physician assistant).
- Students will gain a comprehensive knowledge in underlying concepts of health and disease in preparation for careers in the biomedical sciences.
- Students will exhibit a broad knowledge of interdisciplinary topics within the field of health and social sciences.
- Integrate the knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and biochemistry to critically evaluate the relationship with human health and function.
