MDI 210LEC - Chemical Design of Materials This course introduces the fundamentals of materials chemistry. It explores the role of the interplay between chemical bonding and electronic structure from both a solid state chemistry and solid state physics perspective. The influence of crystal structure and symmetry on equilibrium properties in response to stress, thermal and electrical fields is discussed. Topics include crystal chemistry, electronic structure and defects on transport properties and a basic introduction to databases in materials chemistry.
