SOC 314LEC - Sociology of Gender This course explores the social and cultural construction of gender, focusing on the ways that femininities and masculinities are constructed from infancy through adulthood in the United States. Includes how gender shapes–and is shaped by–major social institutions such as media, sports, and work, as well as other characteristics such as social class, race/ethnicity, and sexuality. This course is the same as SSC 316, and course repeat rules will apply. Students should consult with their major department regarding any restrictions on their degree requirements.
